If you are fond of the styling of Range Rover Velar, there’s a good chances that you will appreciate the 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have been launched in India today (28th June 2018). Let’s take a look at the details:
Visuals and features
The new Range Rovers’ foremost visual highlight is that their design inspiration comes from the Velar which now gives its customers a more upmarket and premium look on the new facelift models. The front end gets a new grille, new clamshell bonnet and fender vents.
Apart from the Velar looking front end and the similar fascia, the new 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport’s headlamps are made up of 144 units. These can put out up to 4 zones as they provide maximum illumination, the revised LED inserts in the tail lamp that makes it more stylish. The front grille is painted in glossy black paint.
The updates are not limited to the exteriors as the cabin has received some new elements too. The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will get some premium features that are designed for maximum luxury. For instance, the new models get an optional executive class type rear seats that provide the feel of an aircraft seat. These seats are being offered with a deployable center console, heated seats with massage function, panoramic sunroof with gesture sunblind that open and closes with the occupant’s hand movement. The new models also get adaptive cruise control with queue assist and four-zone climate control.
The new MY18 Range Rover comes with an all new Touch Pro duo infotainment system; the cabin gets 17 connecting points for multimedia uses and charging. Not only this, the cabin also gets 4G WI-FI connectivity with an option of connecting up to 8 devices.
Engine and Performance
The new 2018 Range Rovers are being offered in a total of four engine options out of which two are petrol and two are diesel. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 255 bhp along with a peak torque of 600 Nm. The more powerful 4.4-litre V8 engine produces a maximum power of 335 bhp and peak torque of 740 Nm, the petrol option features a 3.0-litre Supercharged V6 that makes a maximum power of 335 bhp and a peak torque 450 Nm and lastly, the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 produces a maximum power of 517 bhp and a peak torque of 625 Nm.
All engine options on the new MY18 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This gearbox comes as standard on the new Range Rovers.
The new Range Rovers get performance features like electronic air suspension, terrain response 2 system, twin speed transfer box with electronic center differential and adaptive dynamics. These features make the new models more off-road capable and maintain a perfect balance between luxury and going dirty while off-roading.
The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will be up against the likes of Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLS in its segment.
