As the saying goes, “We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing”; most of us forget our childhood adventures and dreams to grow up so we can build a career and secure future. Our daily life is busy as we are constantly going in the loops of work, family and kids; in attempts to juggle between them, we barely have recreational time for ourselves. Most of all, we forget to enjoy life as a journey and focus entirely on the destination instead. So, to break this loop, The Amazing Motor Rally is a perfect get away to take a break and enjoy the moments you made for yourself. We had the opportunity to tag along with the team of The Amazing Motor Rally and be a part of this journey and experienced it ourselves. So, let’s see what it was all about and how the event unfolds.
The Amazing Motor Rally is an annual event hosted by KGH foundation. This adventurous motor rally is all about finding ourselves and recreating memories with our loved ones and jumping out of that loop that we define as “life” with a cause to spread awareness for cancer and promoting tourism in Nepal along the way. This event has been organized by Waterfront Resort by KGH Group of Hotels and Resort since 2013 and has been making a name for itself. The event is not just limited to the fun and competition as a motor rally, but it also comprises of charitable events (Free Health Camp and School Bag Distribution for Children from rural sector in Pokhara) in an association with Nepal Cancer Relief Society (NCRS). The objective of the event has always been to promote domestic tourism and bring people together for a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200kms) fueled with fun and exciting activities throughout the event. The Amazing Motor Rally aims to provide a supportive environment with safe rules so that all the participants can make it to Pokhara with new and unique experiences. And even this year the event aims to raise awareness about the misconceptions pertaining to cancer with a theme; “Cancer is curable, if treated early”.
Even though it is a competition, according to organizers, the winner will not be judged solely in terms of speed and time. For every minute the car arrived before the stipulated time, 20 points will be multiplied and for every minute the car arrived after stipulated time, 10 points will be multiplied. And the winner will be the one who scores the least points. Along the way, there will be seven check points, where the marshals will allocate several ‘tasks’ to the drivers.
