Hyundai has officially launched the Elitei20 in India. This also marks the international debut of the Hyundai Elite i20 and India is the first market to get the second generation of the popular i20 hatchback. The Elite i20 follows Hyundai’s Fluidic 2.0 design language. The car will be available in a total of five trims – Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. The front fascia has been redesigned with a 3-D hexagonal grille, sweptback headlamps, trapezoidal fog lamps, LED side mirrors while the rear gets new wraparound lights. The higher-trim models also get automatic headlamps, auto folding wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, rear view camera and auto climate control. On the safety front, the Sportz trim gets driver airbag and ABS although front passenger airbag is only available on the Asta trim. The Elite i20 is expected to be offered in 10 variants – five petrol and five diesels. The same engines from the current model will continue to power the new Elite i20. The 1.2-litre Kappa VTVT engine produces 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque, while the 1.4 U2 CRDI diesel makes 90bhp of power and 220Nm of torque. The company claims fuel efficiency figures of 18.60kmpl for the petrol model and 22.54kmpl for the diesel model. The vehicle is priced between INR 4.89 – 7.66 lakh.
