The FZ series was a huge hit when it was launched in the Indian market in 2008. Expanding the FZ series further, Yamaha Motor India has launched the Yamaha FZ25 in the Indian market at a price of INR 1.19 lakhs. The street-fighter is Yamaha India’s first foray into the highly-competitive quarter-litre segment.
The Yamaha FZ25’s styling is inspired by the current FZ-series and the M-Slaz that is sold in Indonesia. Like all other Yamaha street-fighter bikes, the FZ25 gets a scuplted fuel tank and sharp looking tank shrouds.
The FZ25 also offers an impressive array of new features including the LED headlight( first-in-the-segment in India), a LCD instrument cluster, a mudguard that moves with the swingarm and MT-series inspired wheels.
Powering the bike is a 249 cc single cylinder oil cooled, fuel injected engine. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine is capable of producing 20.6 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike also gets Yamaha’s Blue-Core technology for an overall improved performance including fuel efficiency, acceleration and environmental friendliness.
The Yamaha FZ 25 is built on diamond type frame and has a kerb weight of 148 kg. Braking performance comes from 282 mm front and 257 mm rear disc brakes. Sadly, ABS is not offered. It rides on 100/80 section front as well as 140/70 section rear 17-inch tyres. The ground clearance stands at 160 mm and the fuel tank capacity is 14 litres. Yamaha is offering the FZ25 in three colours – Ballistic Blue, Warrior White and Knight Black.
