Nepal’s one and only automobile exhibition, the NADA Auto Show which kicks off on September 15th will feature exciting debuts from Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Skoda and many more. Among the most-anticipated reveals are the Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Creta, all-new Honda Jazz, Tata Safari Storme facelift, Yamaha Fascino, TVS Zest and many more. Though some of the aforementioned products like Hyundai Creta, Tata Safari Storme facelift, Yamaha Fascino and TVS Zest were launched before the auto show, these products will still be the showstoppers for their companies. The S-Cross is among a handful of most-anticipated models at this years’ NADA Auto Show. The S-Cross is a global vehicle in Suzuki’s line-up. The S-Cross is based on the SX4 hatchback that never came to India or Nepal. Though the S-Cross is more or less similar to the European SX4 S-Cross, Maruti Suzuki has made some design and mechanical changes. The Indian version is available with two diesel engines – 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre multijet – both of which have been sourced from Fiat.
The third-generation Honda Jazz will make its Nepal debut at the show. The new Jazz has been designed on the basis of results obtained from extensive market surveys across the world for people’s driving needs and lifestyles. The all-new Jazz is developed as the world’s Best Functional Compact Hatchback which offers Dynamic styling, Outstanding Package, Class-leading Fuel Economy, Advanced Technology & Equipment and Versatile Utility.The new Jazz is available in both Diesel and Petrol fuel options in India – a refined 1.2 L i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers a maximum power of 90 PS at 6000 rpm and a torque of 110 Nm at 4800 rpm, and a newly-developed 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine of Earth Dream Technology series which delivers a maximum power of 100 PS at 3600 rpm and maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm.
One of the most awaited cars, the Octavia, will be unveiled by Skoda M.A.W. in this year’s NADA Auto Show. The Octavia will be available in two trims. The Octavia boasts of unrivalled space, timeless elegant design, high functionality, innovative safety & comfort systems, high fuel economy and is packed with Simply Clever features which is part of SKODA’s philosophy.
New Yeti:Similarly, the new YETI, Skoda’s versatile SUV, will also be unveiled during the show. Both vehicles follow Skoda’s new design language. Design elements such as bumpers, air intakes, under-ride protection, side mouldings and door sills are customized in black lacquered plastic. In addition, there are other attractive comfort and design features fitted as standard, including bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, an electronically-adjustable driver’s seat, a multifunction steering wheel, electronic tyre pressure monitoring system, and the automatic locking and start system KESSY (Keyless-Entry-Start-and-Exit-System).
TATA Motors:With improved power and better Low End Torque mated with a 5-speed gearbox, the Safari Storme facelift is loaded with new performance and connectivity features – of DRIVENEXT & CONNECTNEXT, based on the company’s customer focused HORIZONEXT strategy. The new VARICOR engine, turbocharged with VTT (Variable Turbine Technology), delivers 150 PS Power & 320 NM Torque, providing easy drivability, swifter response and lower NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). The 4×4 variant also features ESOF (electronic shift-on-fly) technology, enabling engagement of the 4×4 or 4X2 mode on the move, with high fuel efficiency at 14.1 kmpl.
Completing the driving experience of the new Safari Storme will be a Fully Integrated CONNECTNEXT Infotainment System powered by Harman™. The infotainment system is unique to the segment, featuring an LCD screen, with Bluetooth connectivity, iPod-in, USB-in and AUX-in, along with a CD and AM-FM player, offering an acoustic experience that’s best-in-class, with six speakers, with other features like steering mounted controls, for customers to stay connected at all times.
Benelli:The legendary Italian manufactuer, has already caused a big stir in the Nepalese two-wheelers market with their unveiling of the BN302. We expect to see more models alongside the flagship BN302 that was revealed first.
The RS4 125 is the youngest sibling of the RSV4. Powered by a new single cylinder, 125 cc, 4 stroke, 4 valve engine, with electronic fuel injection and liquid cooling, the RS4 is also packed with the innovative Aprilia Quick Shift rapid gear change system, a sophisticated technical solution directly derived from its bigger sister, the RSV4 APRC. Will we finally see Europe’s most popular sports 125 at the NADA Auto Show? With bookings already open, we hope Aprilia will showcase the RS4 125 at the auto show.
TVS, the third largest two wheeler company in India,will launch its TVS Scooty Zest 110 in the Nepalese market this month. The all new TVS Scooty Zest 110 offers customers an optimum balance of power, performance, ride quality and handling along with a host of other attractive features. The stylish scooter is powered by a larger zippy, refined nextgen 109.7cc engine which offers the Best-In-Class pickup of 0-60 kmph in just 11.1 seconds. It returns an impressive Best-In-Class mileage of 62 kmpl.
Yamaha will be hoping to launch the Saluto in the Nepalese market at the NADA Auto Show. The new 125cc Saluto is powered by a 2 valve, 4 stroke, Air cooled, SOHC engine based on Yamaha’s Blue Core Engine Development ideal. The lightest weight in its class at 113 kg, the Saluto boasts of a mileage of 78 kmpl. The Yamaha Fazer Fi Version 2.0 has been launched in the Indian market and we hope it will make its Nepal debut at the NADA Auto Show. Known for its touring capabilities, the new Fazer FI Version 2.0 is built on Yamaha’s New Generation ‘Blue Core’ engine concept offering a more powerful, fuel-efficient, eco-friendly, 149cc fuel-injected engine mounted on a newly-designed lightweight body.Another model we would like to see at the NADA Auto Show is the Yamaha YZF-R3. The YZF-R3 could be the showstopper for motorcycles, if unveiled during the show. The Yamaha YZF – R3 mounts a newly developed 321cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line 2-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. With all-new engine and chassis designs, the YZF-R3 sports a solid combination of class-leading power and a lightweight body that achieves high levels of riding performance and styling worthy of the “superbike” moniker.
Honda Livo, a new 110cc commuter bike, is powered by a 110cc 4-stroke engine. The bike comes with Honda Eco Technology (HET) which helps the motorcycle to deliver a class leading mileage of 74 kmpl* (*Mileage on Honda Mode). Similarly, it also gets Honda Intelligent Ignition Control System (HIICS) technology which ensures best combination of power, performance and mileage.
As in the previous year, we will be hoping to see the Nissan Terrano in the Nepalese market. The Terrano which was launched in the Indian market in 2013 is yet to be unveiled here. The Terrano is Nissan India’s premium compact SUV with striking resemblance to the Renault Duster. In India, the compact SUV is available in seven variants across three engine options. The vehicle will provide serious competition to the Ford Ecosport, Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and KIA Sportage if launch in the Nepalese market.
