Tata Motors today launched the much anticipated hatchback Bolt in India at INR 4.4 lakh. The Bolt hatchback is built on the X1 platform under Tata Motors’ Horizonext, a customer-focused strategy for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Business. Bolt was showcased in the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The premium hatchback is the perfect fusion of sporty design and thrilling performance. The Tata Bolt comes packed with various first-in-class features like Harman infotainment system, Multi-Drive function, 9th gen ABS by BOSCH™, corner stability control and dual airbags, superior space and comfort, fully-automatic ac with controls on the touchscreen, body hugging rugby shoulder seats, ePAS (electric power assisted steering) with speed sensitivity and active return function, and speed sensing auto locks on all doors. Safety features include ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and CSC (Corner Stability Control). CSC ensures safety in case of emergency braking by sensing the wheel speed, and prevents wheel lock-up while braking, thus maintaining directional control. CSC further improves safety while negotiating tight corners.Tata has equipped the Bolt with two engine options; a segment-first 89bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged multi-point fuel injection (MPFi) Reventon petrol and a 74bhp 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine. The built in ‘Multi-Drive’ feature lets you switch between three different driving modes: Sport, Eco and City, giving you the power of 3 engines in 1. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The company may launch an AMT variant in the near future.The hatchback is currently available in four variants (XE, XM, XMS and XT) in a starting price of INR 4.45 lakh-INR 6.99 lakh.
