Maruti Suzuki launched the 2022 S-presso in India

Maruti Suzuki has updated its S-presso hatchback for 2022. The new hatchback, based on the Heartect platform, is now powered by Suzuki’s next-gen K-series petrol engine, which provides better fuel efficiency than the outgoing models. And the vehicle comes with a host of new features, while the styling remains largely the same. The new S-presso has been launched in India in six variants, at a starting price of INR 4.25 lakh.

What’s new?

The S-presso’s design remains the same as its predecessor’s. However, the vehicle is now powered by the next-generation K10C, dual-jet, dual-VVT engine, which is mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT. The engine is capable of generating a power of 66 bhp and a torque of 89 Nm.

The new hatchback gets an idle start/stop mechanism that makes the vehicle 17% more fuel-efficient than the outgoing models. Suzuki claims the new S-presso provides a mileage of between 24.76 kmpl to 25.30 kmpl, depending on the transmission option.

The vehicle comes in six variants: the Standard, LXi, VXi, VXi+, VXi (O), and VXi+ (O). Only the VXi (O), and VXi+ (O) models get the AMT transmission. Furthermore, these higher variants come with added features such as an air purifier, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill-hold assist, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and reverse parking sensors.
