The Aprilia SXR 125 has been showcased in India, with an announced price tag of INR 1.16 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is expected to arrive in Nepal after a couple of months.
The Aprilia brand has made quite a mark amongst the youth here, who continue to be charmed by two of the company’s models in the 125cc segment, namely, the Aprilia SR 125 and Aprilia Storm 125. Aficionados looking for a new scooter in that segment should be elated about the addition of the Aprilia SXR 125. D-lifestyles, the authorised distributor of Aprilia scooters and Vespa scooters in Nepal, launched the elder sibling of the SXR 125–the Aprilia SXR 160–a few months back, and the recently unveiled SXR 125, as far as the exterior goes, seems like an almost identical version of the SXR 160.
The Aprilia SXR 125 will be positioned below the flagship SXR 160 in the company’s product lineup, and it will be a direct rival to the likes of Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and TVS NTorq 125 Race Edition in a premium position once it’s officially launched in Nepal.
Let’s now get to the detailed information about the all-new Aprilia SXR 125 and what it has to offer.
The design of the SXR 135, as mentioned earlier, is pretty similar to that of the SXR 160—except for the eagle-eye—which makes them quite hard to differentiate. The front fascia has a sturdy appearance and its design is influenced by motorcycles such as the Aprilia RS 660. The distinctive triple headlamp cluster—the brand’s signature design, integrated LED DRLs, along with a massive windshield–has further enhanced the character of this maxi scooter. As for the sides, the white decals and body panel flow with the boy contours, while the muscular exhaust, aggressive-looking alloy wheels, and grab rail towards the end have continued the sturdy look. The thick single-piece seat setup makes for a convenient option for both rider and pillion companion.
The SXR 125 will be powered by the 125 cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine, which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 9.3 bhp at 7,600 rpm and 9.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. The braking system comprises 220 mm front disc and 140 mm rear disc brakes with CBS (Combined Braking System). It is worth noting that the SXR 160 comes with an Anti-Braking System, unlike the SXR 125, which had a CBS, or Combined Braking System. Similarly, the maxi scooter is equipped with telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear.
The Aprilia SXR 125 measures 1,985 mm in length, 806 mm in width, and 1,261 mm in height. It stands on 12-inch alloy wheels. The fuel capacity is also similar to that of its elder sibling i.e. 7 litres. The scooter has a ground clearance of 160 mm and its kerb weight is expected to be between 118 Kg – 129 kg.
The Aprilia SXR 125 will offer the same colour options as the SXR 160: Matt Black, Glossy White, Matt Blue, and Glossy Red. The scooter’s other notable features include all-LED lights, a USB charging port, a wide-seat layout, a glovebox, a USB charger, large under-storage, optional Bluetooth connectivity, and an all-digital instrument cluster showing readouts from the speedometer, odometer, ABS status, trip meter, fuel efficiency, etc.
Once the scooter makes its way to Nepal, its price here is expected to be slightly higher than NPR 3,00,000.
