BMW launches all-electric SUV—the iX–in India

The iX, powered by dual motors, gets the standard BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive system and comes with three driving modes: Personal, Sport, and Efficient.

Design
The BMW iX gets a sleek design with an aerodynamic body. The SUV features a kidney-shaped grille (integrated with an intelligence panel), slim twin headlights and DRLs at the front. On the rear, it gets slim tail lights, drag-reducing rear diffuser, and a rear-view camera.
The SUV, standing either on 20-inch or 22-inch wheels (depending on the variant), is 4953mm long, 1967mm wide, and 1696mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3000 mm.
Inside the premium cabin, the car features perforated sensatec upholstered seats and a stitched instrument panel. On the dashboard is a curved, floating central console that features a configurable 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment system–compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Battery and performance
Powering the SUV is a dual all-electric motor–paired with a 111.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (with advanced active thermal management system)–that generates 516 hp of power and a torque of 764 Nm.
The iX gets the standard BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive system. As for braking, the vehicle comes with a high-performance lightweight integrated brake system with ABS, cornering and dynamic brake control, brake drying, drive-off assistant, and automatic hold.
The electric SUV comes with a flexible fast-charger cable with 110V/240V capability. The vehicle can be charged from 0-100% in under 11 hours via a 240V outlet and via DC fast charging, with 10 minutes of charge providing a range of 144km.

Features
The iX comes with the Shy-Tech feature that includes features such as self-healing intelligence panel kidney grille, functional badges for washer fluid and rear view camera, and camera lens washing systems, radiant heat in the dash and door panels, visually minimized buttons and controls, and touch-sensitive surfaces.

For conveniences, the SUV features 3-stage heated front seats, automatic four-zone climate control with preconditioning, power adjustable front seats and steering wheel, wireless device charging (Qi standard) with active cooling, multi-colour ambient lighting, universal garage door opener, power tailgate, parking assistant and back-up assistant, and 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats.
The iX comes with a plethora of safety features such as a rear-view camera, front-collision warning, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, speed limit info, Active Protection System (APS), fatigue and focus alert, safe exit, anti-theft alarm system, park distance control, auto high beams, pedestrian protection, and mobility kit.
BMW iX price in India
The BMW iX has been launched in India at an introductory price of INR 1.15 crore. The SUV is available in four different colour options: Alpine White, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, and Sophisto Grey.
