Citroen C5 Aircross officially unveiled in Nepal
Posted On: September 21, 2021 By : Shuva Raj KhatriAfter finding great success with Peugeot vehicles in Nepal, Shangrila Motors Pvt. Ltd, has introduced another popular French brand — Citroen — in the country. To mark the brand’s entry, the company has officially launched a premium mid-size SUV — the Citroen C5 Aircross — at the introductory price of Rs 1.35 crore.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is an ultra-modular SUV that promises unstinting comfort with its unique patented suspension design, which utilises Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, and Advanced Comfort seats. The vehicle is based on four main themes of comfort engineering: Cocooned Comfort, Panoramic Life, Flying Carpet Effect, and Intuitive Technologies.
Design
At the front, the C5 Aircross has a muscular profile that features a double chevron design just above a matte black upper grille. The vehicle, standing on 18-inch two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels, features LED vision projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and front fog lamps on its front bumper; and 3D LED lamps, fog lamps, and an LED high mount stop lamp on the rear.

The 5-seater SUV comes with a cushy interior featuring grey-grained leather upholstery with advanced comfort seats. The driver seat comes with an electronically adjustable feature. Upfront is a height-and-reach-adjustable leather steering wheel with two control zones. On the dashboard sits a 12.3-inch digital cluster with an embedded eight-inch touchscreen that is compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. And on the top of the well-designed cabin is a panoramic sunroof powered by dual electric motors with an inbuilt auto-reverse safety function.

Powertrain
The Citroen C5 Aircross is powered by a 1.6L petrol engine generating a maximum power of 165 hp (121 kW) and a maximum torque of 240 Nm. The engine is mated to a highly refined 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the SUV also offers a manual gear-change function that makes use of mounted paddles on the steering wheel, enabling the driver to seamlessly shift gears between automatic and manual modes. The vehicle comes with a refined start-stop function designed for increasing fuel efficiency and decreasing emissions.

Features
The premium SUV offers a plethora of convenience features such as push-button start, engine start and stop, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic temperature control, Air Quality System, rear AC vents, cruise control with speed limiter and memory settings, puddle lamp, electrochromic inside rear-view mirror, double-laminated front windows and acoustic windshield glass, passenger seat manual adjustment (six-ways), lumbar support front seats, front-console armrest with LED-illuminated cup holder, electric tailgate, automatic headlight activation, automatic rain-sensing wiper with integrated windscreen washers, trunk hooks, two-tone horn, and tyre-pressure monitoring system.

The SUV boasts cocooned safety features such as six airbags (including driver and front-passenger airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags), park assist, parking sensors, ESP, coffee-break alert, blind-spot monitoring system, blind-spot information system (BLIS), fog lights with static cornering function, hill-descent assist, hill-start assist, reverse camera with top-rear vision, traction control, auto-door unlock on crash, three-point retractable seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters in the outer rear seats, ISOFIX, and electric parking brake.
Specifications
The vehicle comes with Citroen’s own proprietary suspension — Progressive Hydraulic Cushions — that redefines the meaning of driving comfort. The suspension maintains assured stability and dynamics even on road surfaces marred by imperfections and large bumps, making the Citroen C5 Aircross feel like a ‘flying carpet’.
