With the discontinuation of the DI variant, it’s the Thar CRDe variant with a four-wheel drive system that has continued adding to the brand cachet that was built by the SUV’s predecessors in Nepal.
The classic off-road SUV is powered by a 2.5L CRDe engine–mated to a five-speed manual transmission–that generates a power of 105 Bhp at 3800 rpm and a torque of 247 Nm at 1800 rpm.

However, the off-roader, powered by a 2.6l CR diesel-engine (BS-IV compliant), still remains a vehicle of choice in the thin extreme off-road vehicle segment in Nepal. The Gurkha’s 2956 cc engine–mated to a five-speed manual transmission– is capable of producing 85 hp of power at 3200 rpm and a torque of 230 Nm at 1400-2400 rpm.
The Gurkha comes in two variants: the Xpedition and the Xplorer.
And there is now good news for Gurkha fanatics who would like a vehicle upgrade. The all-new Force Gurkha has been launched in India and is expected to launch in Nepal in the first quarter of 2022. The new-generation Gurkha is built on Mercedes Benz’s G-Wagon platform.

Jeep Wrangler
The all-new Jeep Wrangler was launched in Nepal in October 2021–marking Jeep’s 80th anniversary celebrations. The 4×4 off-road SUV has inherited many body-design cues from its predecessors–the iconic styling particulars, round headlamps, a seven-slot grille, rugged side-steps, and flat fender flares.
The Wrangler’s engine is powered by a 2.0L turbo engine–mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission–that generates 201 kW of power and a torque of 400 Nm.
