Fully faired bikes were primarily designed to perform on the race tracks. However, the public’s craze for their aesthetic design and better performance pushed multiple companies to get into the fully faired game–by coming up with affordable versions of this increasingly popular bike type. Even though this type of bike has lower ground clearance, reduced maneuverability, and is more prone to damage, it is one of the best selling models–evidently owing to their aesthetics.

Fairing bikes seems less practical for daily city commutes as they are hard to maneuver in traffic congestion. However, they perform great on highways. Their aerodynamic design reduces air resistance and generates more downforce and traction control. Furthermore, the bikes are efficient as well.

Here are some fully faired sport bikes that are popular in Nepal.

Yamaha R15-series

The R15 model first made an appearance in Nepal around the 2010s and it gained popularity quickly among Nepalis, largely due to its sports-fairing body design. The company then successively launched its second and third iteration, v2 and v3, through 2017. Recently, the bike’s latest model, v4 and M, were launched with great anticipation.

Currently, Yamaha sells three R15 models: the v3, v4, and M, in Nepal. The bike is powered by a 155 cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, engine–mated to a six-speed gearbox–that generates a power of 18.1 hp and a torque of 14.2 Nm.

Suzuki Gixxer SF-series

Two models in the Suzuki Gixxer series–the 155 and the 250–are offered in a full-faired version –named as the SF 155 and the SF 250. The model powered by 155 cc engine–mated to a 5-speed gearbox–generates a power of 13 hp and the one powered by the 250 cc engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox to generate 19.47 hp of power. 

Among the SF 155’s notable features are its LED lights, digital instrumentation cluster, disc ABS, and twin muffler. And the SF 250 gets Suzuki’s easy-start system, SOCS oil-cooling system, and a digital instrument cluster packed with features like low-battery indicator, fuel-warning indicators, one-touch start, and an ABS indicator.

KTM RC-series

KTM’s RC series bikes are known as the company’s top-level full-faired sport racing bikes. In Nepal, the company offers two RC models: the 2020 RC 390 and the 2022 RC 200 (bookings open). 

The RC 200 generates a power of 25 hp and a torque of 19.5 Nm. And the 390 model generates 41 hp of power and 35 Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Honda CBR-series

Honda Nepal offers two full-faired models in its CBR-series: the 250R and the 600RR. The 250R is an entry-level full-faired model while the 600RR is among the top.

The 250R is powered by a 249.6cc engine that generates a power of 26.15 hp and a torque of 22.9 Nm. And the 600RR, powered by a 599cc engine, generates 118 hp of power and 66 Nm of torque.

The 250R comes in four variants and the 600RR is offered in a single variant.

TVS Apache RR310

The RR310 is TVS’s  top model offering from its Apache series in Nepal. Powering the full-faired bike is a 312.2cc engine that is capable of generating 33.5 hp of power and a torque of 27.3 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

CF Moto 250 SR 

CF Moto’s 250 SR is powered by a 249.2cc engine that generates a power of 27.4 hp and a torque of 22 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Among the bike’s notable features are its slipper clutch, TFT display, and dual-disc brakes with anti-lock braking system.
