Kishore Gears has displayed dominance over Nepal’s automobile industry yet again and ushered in the coveted Jaguar marquee with the XJ L and XF models making their debut. We rushed to the scene to bring you an exclusive scoop of the Jaguars.
The Jaguar XJ series represents the summit of Jaguar’s luxury saloon range. The XJ’s unparalleled breadth of talent combines class-leading levels of luxury, comfort and performance with the elegant, contemporary design for which Jaguar is renowned. With a perfect combination of cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship, sporting vehicle dynamics and opulent luxury, the 2014 Jaguar XJ L is an exhilarating combination of power and beauty, available with a range of distinctive new features.
With its even more assertive and bolder look, the Jaguar XJ L has a commanding presence on the road, making it a definitive head turner. Its luxurious interiors, powerful engine and latest technologies making it even more productive, entertaining and relaxing.
Cosmetically, the 2014 Jaguar XJ features a more upright front grille finished with mesh detailing; whereas the headlights sport full LED lights. At the rear, the saloon gets new elliptical LED tail lights for a distinctive new look. The automaker also suggests that the new XJ is slightly more aerodynamic reducing air resistance and improving acceleration.
The 2014 XJ L features a range of enhanced interior features focused on the rear cabin of the car, which upgrade both the luxury and functionality of the XJ’s rear environment, resulting in the most accomplished Jaguar luxury saloon.
The long-wheelbase models feature enhanced rear cabin luxury features which include ‘airline’ style reclining seats with massage function, increased headroom, fold-out business tables and a specially re-tuned rear suspension set-up to enhance rear seat ride comfort.
The entertainment system has been enhanced with a Rear Seat Entertainment package featuring two hi-resolution touchscreens, and optional premium Meridian Reference Audio System with Conversation Assist. The rear seat environment, including the entertainment, is managed by a wireless controller housed in the centre console which also allows passengers to alter their individual climate zones and seat heating and cooling functions.
Under the hood, the 2014 Jaguar XJ L draws power from a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which belts out 275 PS at 4000 RPM and 680 NM of torque at 2500-5500 RPM. The engine is mated to Jaguar’s eight-speed automatic gearbox which offers a broad spread of ratios for a perfectly balanced combination of smooth-shifting, economy and driver control. Offering further efficiency improvements is Jaguar’s Intelligent Stop/Start system, which is able to shut down the engine in just 300 milliseconds after the car has come to a halt, allowing for fuel consumption improvements of around 5%.
The Jaguar XF series is a definite head turner and an excellent sedan that combines elegant design, luxurious style and classy appeal. The Jaguar XF is a great value proposition for customers, offering best in class power output and torque in the segment.
The cabin is said to be a seamless blend of contemporary luxury materials and finishes, with traditional Jaguar craftsmanship and state-of-the art technology.Goodies include shift paddles, DSC, bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and tail lamps, keyless operation, dual-zone climate control and a seven-inch touchscreen system with navigation, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity. It also features the company’s new InControl Touch Pro multimedia system, which is based around a quad-core processor and uses an “ultra-fast” ethernet network.
The XF range in Nepal is available with two engine options – a 190 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 240PS 2.0-litre petrol engine. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
