Kia India launches the Sonet’s X-Line variant at INR 13.39 lakh

Kia has launched a new variant of its most successful model–the Sonet–in India. The new X-Line model, based on the Sonet’s outgoing GTX+ model, comes with major changes in design, but the mechanical features largely remain the same.The X-Line variant is offered in two variants, in two engine options, at a starting price of INR 13.39 lakh.

Design and features

The Sonet X-Line comes with notable new exterior changes such as a new Matte Graphite exterior colour, signature Tiger Nose grille with a black glossy finish, piano black front and rear skid plates with metal accents, and dark chrome fog lamp garnish. Furthermore, the SUV gets new crystal-cut 16-inch alloy wheels with a black high gloss. The X-Line model gets a dual-tone (beige and grey) ‘Splendid Sage’ interior that features leather-upholstered sport seats with orange stitching and the X-Line logo. 

The new sub-compact SUV comes with notable features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, electric sunroof, cruise control, central locking, smart key with push button start, remote engine start, paddle shifters, traction control modes (Sand, Mud, and Wet), driving modes (Normal, Eco, and Sports), and wireless charger, among others.

For safety, the new model gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, HAC, VSM, brake assist, front and rear parking sensors, and reverse parking camera with parking guidelines.

Engine and specifications

The new Sonet X-Line comes in two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litrel diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine–mated to a seven-speed DCT–generates a power of 120 hp and a torque of 172 Nm. And the diesel engine, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, is capable of generating 115 hp of power and a torque of 250 Nm.

Kia Sonet X-Line price in Nepal

The Sonet’s X-Line model comes in two engine options: a 1.0l turbo-petrol with 7-speed DCT and a 1.5l diesel with 6-speed AT, at a starting price of INR 13.39 lakh–which is INR 20,000 more than that of the outgoing GTX+ models. 

There has been no information regarding the X-line’s launch in Nepal. However, if it’s launched here, fans can expect it to cost around Rs 65 lakh.
