Sorento Hybrid SUV launched in Nepal
Posted On: January 24, 2022 By : Shuva Raj KhatriAfter finding great success with its combustion-powered SUVs, Kia Motors is making a giant leap forward by rolling out a hybrid SUV–the Sorento Hybrid–at an introductory price of Rs 1.69 crore. The company labels the vehicle as ‘the largest hybrid SUV’, which boasts a 7-seater capacity.

Performance
The Sorento Hybrid is powered by a 1.6L TGDi turbo petrol engine and a 1.49 kWh battery mated to a 44.2 kW AC-synchronous permanent magnet motor. The hybrid motor is based on the TMED structure, with a parallel-drive system, which enables shift-by-wire through a six-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive SUV primarily uses its electric motor to get to 25 kmph, and then the TGDi petrol engine takes over. However, it uses both the electric motor and the TGDi petrol engine through power-split transmission while accelerating.
The new Sorento Hybrid comes with exceptional drive modes: Normal, Sport, Eco, Smart, Sand, Mud, and Snow modes, which help the driver adjust to road conditions.
Design
The all-new Sorento hybrid stands out in the crowd owing to its sport-body styling, which features a black front-grille integrated with multi-reflector LED headlamps, The vehicle, standing on muscular 19-inch alloy wheels, has sharp body lines and comes with a full-panoramic sunroof.
Among the SUV’s seats–upholstered with Nappa leather– is a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support and a 4-way adjustable passenger seat. The second-row and third-row seats come with 50-50 split-folding features, allowing for 356L of cargo space.
Features
The SUV comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen (with navigation and mapcare), which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Other convenience features include UVO-link remote connectivity, voice recognition, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise-control buttons, eight USB charging outlets, heated front-seats, tilt-and-telescopic steering column, power door locks, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and rear AC vents.

The hybrid SUV comes with safety features such as adaptive cruise control, front-parking sensors, cyclist detection, intersection assist (using sensors to help prevent accidents at intersections), driver-drowsiness monitoring, rear-view camera, rear-parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear-cross traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic-emergency braking, and vehicle-exit warning, mood lamps, heads-up display, and ventilated electric seats.
