New Yamaha R15 models launched in IndiaPosted On: September 28, 2021 By : Magan Tamang
Yamaha has been producing the YZF-R15 series since the debut of the R15 V1 in 2008. Now, ten years after the launch of the popular R15 V2 and V3, they have rolled out the fourth generation of the R15 line up in India, with the introduction of the R15 V4 and R15M.
The R15 V4 comes in three colour options: Racing Blue, Dark Night, and Metallic Red; the R15M only gets the Metallic Grey and MotoGP editions. However, the R15M — the top-end variant of the new-gen R15 — gets more new features than the standard R15 V4.
R15 V4 and R15M design
The new-gen R15 bikes have a stylish sport body, featuring fully revamped styling — inspired by the superbike YZF-R1. Although the R15M and V4 share the same frame, only the R15M features new graphics, a Yamaha 3D emblem, and a special seat.
That said, both the new-gen R15 models get an improved aerodynamic body design for better stability and airflow management at high speed. Both models also get all-new LED headlights and DRLs.

The bikes come equipped with a full digital cluster screen (whose data can be read on the companion Y-Connect app) that features a fuel-consumption tracker, maintenance recommendations, last-parking location, fuel gauge, and clock.
Both the R15 V4 and R15M are powered by the same liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, 155 Fi engine that generates a maximum horsepower of 18.4 PS at 10000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 7500 rpm. The new-gen R15 models also feature fuel-injection technology and traction-control system.
The new-gen R15 V4 and R15M can reach a top speed of 150 kmph (approximate), with the help of the six-constant mesh gearbox, and the bikes can accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 10.1 seconds. The bikes have a fuel capacity of 11 litres.
