Premium electric cars in Nepal

Most EV manufacturers and distributors are on a quest to introduce a wider range of EV models that come at an affordable price–for the average Nepali–without compromising on comfort and safety features. However, the market for premium luxury EVs is also slowly taking shape in Nepal.

Just think about the number of Tesla vehicles you see on Nepali roads these days: you wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the luxury EV market has started to burgeon here and is likely to grow.

With that, here are three premium EV cars available in Nepal.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 debuted in Nepal in early 2022, at a starting price of Rs 80.96 lakh (for the Solar Roof model) and the Vision Roof model was priced at Rs 1 lakh more. However, the electric SUV has been currently priced at Rs 1.17 crore (an increase of 44% in 7 months).

The Ioniq 5 comes powered by a 58 kWh lithium-ion battery that generates 124 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque. The electric SUV provides a range of 384 km on a full charge. The EV can be charged from 10-80 % in just 18 minutes via a 350 kW charger. According to the WLTP, the vehicle only needs to charge for five minutes to get 100 km of range. The EV comes with an on-board 11 kW charger.

The EV boasts a plethora of convenience and safety features–among others, a dual-zone climate AC, drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), voice recognition, eCall emergency system, sliding glove box, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and heated function, a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist, collision-avoidance assist (forward, blind-spot, rear-cross traffic, reverse parking), ABS with ESC, hill-start assist, rear-view function, and temporary mobility control.
