Premium electric cars in Nepal

However, the market for premium luxury EVs is also slowly taking shape in Nepal.
Just think about the number of Tesla vehicles you see on Nepali roads these days: you wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the luxury EV market has started to burgeon here and is likely to grow.
With that, here are three premium EV cars available in Nepal.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 debuted in Nepal in early 2022, at a starting price of Rs 80.96 lakh (for the Solar Roof model) and the Vision Roof model was priced at Rs 1 lakh more. However, the electric SUV has been currently priced at Rs 1.17 crore (an increase of 44% in 7 months).

The Ioniq 5 comes powered by a 58 kWh lithium-ion battery that generates 124 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque. The electric SUV provides a range of 384 km on a full charge. The EV can be charged from 10-80 % in just 18 minutes via a 350 kW charger. According to the WLTP, the vehicle only needs to charge for five minutes to get 100 km of range. The EV comes with an on-board 11 kW charger.
The EV boasts a plethora of convenience and safety features–among others, a dual-zone climate AC, drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), voice recognition, eCall emergency system, sliding glove box, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and heated function, a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist, collision-avoidance assist (forward, blind-spot, rear-cross traffic, reverse parking), ABS with ESC, hill-start assist, rear-view function, and temporary mobility control.

Tesla Model 3
Powering the Model 3 is a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery mated to a 208 kW motor that generates 420 Nm of torque. The rear-wheel drive model can go from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and it can speed up to 225 kmph.

The Model 3 takes around 5 hours 30 minutes to charge fully via a 11 kW AC charger, and via a 170 kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can be charged in 30 minutes. According to the WLTP, the Model 3 provides an approximate range of 448 km.
The premium electric sedan comes with notable features such as a 15.4 LCD touchscreen infotainment system, automatic keyless entry, 12-way power adjustable heated front seats, 4-wheel ABS, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot sensor, collision warning system, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, and anti-theft alarm and immobiliser, among others.

Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y comes in two variants: the Standard Range and the Long Range.The Standard Range Model Y is powered by a 50 kWh battery, which is mated to a 150 kW motor. The battery takes around 7 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge via a 11 kW AC charger, and a 150 kW DC charger can do the same in 50 minutes.

Powering the Long Range model is a 75 kWh battery–mated to a 258 kW motor–that generates a torque of 527 Nm. The all-wheel drive model can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5 seconds. Furthermore, the Long Range Model Y takes more than 8 hours to charge via a 11 kW AC charger, and via a 250 kW DC fast charger, the EV gets charged within 27 minutes.
Among the Model Y’s notable features are its 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated front and rear seats, tinted glass roof with UV protection, three front cameras, rear camera, traffic aware cruise control, 12 ultrasonic sensors, collision avoidance braking and steering, BLIS with steer assist, and evasive maneuver assist, among others.
