Skoda unveils a new mid-size sedan–the Slavia

Skoda has taken the wraps off its new mid-size sedan–the Slavia. With the unveiling, the brand has added yet another promising model to its successful sedan lineup of the Octavia, the Laura, the Superb, and the Rapid. Delivery of the newly launched sedan will start from the first quarter of 2022.

The newly launched five-door sedan carries the bloodlines of the Octavia and the Superb and is bigger than the first-gen Octavia. At the front, the car gets an upright-radiator grille, L-shaped headlights, fog lights, and air inlets with chrome accents. On the rear, the classic C-shaped rear lights have now been split in two, and they also get a delicate crystalline finish. Furthermore, the rear bumper is completely re-contoured with the addition of an integrated diffuser element. The vehicle stands on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The sedan comes with a dual-tone interior (black leather seats with a perforated beige design). The spacious cabin features 60:40 split seats and offers 521 litres of storage capacity. Other interior features include climate control with Aircare function, front-ventilated seats, and multi-function two-spoke steering with tilt-and-telescopic functions.

On the dashboard sits an eight-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is integrated with Skoda play Apps. And housed on top of the well-designed cabin is an electric sunroof with a bounce-back system.

The Slavia comes with two engine options: a 1.0L TSI engine or a 1.5L TSI engine (with Active Cylinder Technology).

The car powered by the 1.0L engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. It is capable of generating a power of 85 kW and a torque of 178 Nm.

And the one powered by the 1.5L engine with ACT generates 110 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG.

The car comes with a plethora of convenience features such as USB type-C charging, elastic bands, rear cup-holders, smartphone pockets, utility recess, reflective door tapes, ticket holder, coat hook, smart grip mat, and wireless charging.

Built on the MQB A0 platform (modular transverse matrix), the Slavia boasts a host of safety features such as traction control, six airbags, ISOFIX mount, ABS with ESC, tyre-pressure monitoring system, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic differential lock, hill-hold control, disc-brake wiping, multi-collision braking, vehicle-stability management, and rain and light sensor.
