LAUNCHED IN INDIA: SUZUKI BALENO
Posted On: October 27, 2015 By : AutoLife TeamMaruti Suzuki India Limited has launched its premium hatchback, Baleno, in India at a price bracket of INR 4.99 lakh – INR 8.11 lakh. The Suzuki Baleno, which is a global model in Suzuki’s line-up, is set to redefine the premium hatchback segment in the Indian market.In India, the Suzuki Baleno comes with two engine options, both offering best-in-class fuel efficiency: the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine which makes 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 27.39 km/litre and the 1.2-litre K-Series VVT Petrol which makes 83 bhp and 115 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 21.4 km/litre. Baleno also comes with a CVT option (Continuously Variable Transmission) in the petrol variant.Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission and the petrol engine is also available with CVT automatic gearbox.
The Suzuki Baleno measures 3995mm in length, 1500mm in height, 1745mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2520mm. The hatchback also offers an impressive 170mm of ground clearance. The car features 339-litres of boot space and 37-litres of fuel capacity. The car is based on Suzuki’s new-generation platform that makes it lighter and stiffer than that of the Swift.
Besides several attractive features like projector headlamps with DRL, LED rear combination lamps, Touchscreen infotainment system, Multi information speedometer display, Reverse parking camera, etc., the Suzuki Baleno also comes with Apple CarPlay feature (1st car in India to offer this feature).
The Baleno comes in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, with the Delta variant being available with the CVT gearbox. All variants will be offered with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard though.
The Baleno will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, all-new Honda Jazz and Tata Bolt. No word yet on the availability here though we expect the hatchback to be launched in the Nepali market by the end of this year.
