Suzuki V-Strom SX launched in India

Suzuki has launched a new adventure motorcycle–the V-Storm SX–in India. The new bike is the younger version of the 650XT from Suzuki’s V-Strom series. It gets similar design and styling but comes with a 250cc engine borrowed from the Gixxer 250 series.

The X-Strom SX has been launched in three colour options: Champion Yellow No. 2, Pearl Blaze Orange, and Glass Sparkle Black, at a price of INR 2.11 lakh.

Design and features

The V-Strom SX takes a lot of design cues from its older and bigger sibling: the V-Strom 650XT. The bike’s front fascia gets a beak design (inspired by the DR-Z racer and DR-BIG off-road models), LED headlights, windscreen, and knuckle covers. The bike comes with a separated seat, with the pillion rider seat raised a bit higher, rubber footrest, and rear carrier or grab bar. On the rear, the bike gets LED combination lights and dual-exit muffler.

The new adventure bike comes with a large LED instrument console (compatible with a Suzuki Ride Connect application) that displays missed call alerts, caller ID, phone battery level, speed exceeding alert, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS/WhatApp alert, and ETA updates, among others.

The V-Strom SX’s engine is based on Suzuki’s Gixxer 250 series. Powering the bike is a 249 cc, oil-cooled (SOCS) engine–mated to a six-speed gearbox–that generates a power of 26 hp and a torque of 22.2 Nm.

The adventure motorcycle’s Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine has been developed using MotoGP’s analytic technology. The SEP engine is lighter and produces less friction, thus ensuring improved acceleration and lower fuel consumption.
