The Yamaha Aerox 155 launched in India

The Aerox 155 was first unveiled at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia in October 2016. It is the second maxi-sport scooter unleashed by Yamaha. Later, it was launched in some southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In 2018, the Aerox 155 made its first appearance in India during the 13th Auto Expo.

In September 2021, Yamaha finally launched the Aerox 155 in the Indian market at the introductory price of INR 1,30,500. The Aerox features the same engine as that in the YZF R15, making it one of the more powerful scooters in the 200 cc segment. It will compete with the Honda Dio, Piaggio Vespa, Hero Electric Photon, TVS Jupiter, and TVS Scooty Pep Plus.

The Aerox 155 is available in two colour options: Racing Blue and Grey Vermillion. It will also be available in the Yamaha MotoGP Edition.


The Aerox 155 design and features

The Yamaha Aerox 155 has a sporty look with a sharp design and comes with a host of features and new technology. At the front, the maxi-sport scooter gets an aggressive LED headlight to give the rider excellent wide-range visibility at night. At the rear, the bike gets a 12 compact LED taillight that gives a 3D appeal to its appearance.

The Aerox 155 also gets a large digital 5.8-inch negative LCD screen with multi-information display that features a speedometer, rpm readouts, and VVA indicator. The scooter also comes with a Y-Connect app, as with other Yamaha models, that suggests maintenance recommendations, tracks your last parked location, and also features a fuel-consumption gauge and a clock. The information displayed can be toggled via the handlebar switch.

Specifications

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the more powerful scooters in the market. It is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, fuel-injected, 155cc Bluecore VVA engine that produces 15 PS of maximum horsepower at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.9 NM at 6000 rpm. The scooter can achieve a mileage of around 45 km/l, and it has a fuel capacity of 5.5 L.

The maxi-sport scooter also gets a Smart Motor Generator System (owing to which the engine is rather quiet), and a smart  start-stop system that boosts the fuel efficiency.

Tyres, brakes, and suspension

The Aerox 155 comes with a single-disc brake with anti-lock braking system at the front. And it gets a super-wide tyre on the rear with flexible side walls for better grip. The scooter also features twin shock absorbers that help ensure a smoother ride.

The Aerox 155 gets a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a unit swing suspension at the rear.

The Aerox 155 is 1980 mm long, 1150 mm high, and 700 wide. It has a ground clearance of 145 mm, rides on 14-inch alloy wheels, and has a kerb weight of 122 kg.

The price of the Yamaha Aerox 155 is INR 1,30,500 in India. According to reports, Yamaha will be launching the Aerox 155 in the Nepali market around this festive season.
