Toyota plans to launch 30 battery EV models by 2030
Posted On: December 15, 2021 By : AutoLife TeamToyota is speeding up its schedule for launching electric vehicles worldwide, promising to launch a huge fleet of EV models by 2030–previously, Toyota had promised 15 EVs by 2025. With an investment of $35 billion in battery vehicle technology, the company has vowed to sell 3.5 million battery EVs globally by 2030 and transform Lexus into an EV-only brand by 2035.

In a media briefing regarding Toyota’s EV strategies, Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation says: “The company plans to launch 30 EV models–both carbon-reducing and carbon-neutral–offering a full lineup in the passenger and commercial segments. Furthermore, Toyota will focus on small-batteries EV to increase vehicle efficiency using less energy. ”
The first model in the lineup will be the bZ4X–a mid-size SUV from Toyota’s ‘beyond ZERO’ series.
Toyota’s luxury vehicles counterpart–the Lexus–plans to make luxury electric vehicles that will be built to the ‘Lexus Driving Signature’ standard. Furthermore, the company plans to launch an electric sports car that can accelerate from 0-60 kmph within two seconds and will provide a range of 700km.
The Toyota brand currently offers more than 100 models of engine-only vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles in more than 170 countries and regions.
Similarly, the Lexus brand has introduced more than 30 models of engine-only vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in more than 90 countries and regions.
