Toyota’s upcoming SUV: the Raize

United Traders Syndicate, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nepal, is set to launch a new passenger car–the Raize–in December this year. The Raize will be Toyota’s most affordable compact SUV, in addition to its lineup of the Rush and the Corolla Cross. The new SUV’s price is expected to be Rs 66 lakh.

Design 

The Raize will be 3995 mm long and 1695 mm wide. Despite having a smaller length than the Rush, the Raize will be equally wide and will be standing on 17-inch alloy wheels as well. 

The Raize’s exterior features a trapezoid lower grille and angular bumper corners at the front. As for the lights, the vehicle comes with thin LED headlights with DRLs and indicators, and LED taillights. The interior features leather-and-fabric upholstered seats. The dashboard has a steering wheel with mounted controls, and behind it sits a seven-inch TFT LCD cluster. 


Engine

The Raize might come with two engine options: 1.0L 1KR-VET turbo and 1.2L WA-VEX DVVT

The car powered by the 1.0L 1KR-VET turbo engine will generate 72 kW of power at 6200 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 2400-4000 rpm.

And the one powered by the 1.2L WA-VEX DVVT will generate a power of 64 kW at 6000 rpm and a torque of 113 Nm at 4500 rpm.

The engine might come paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a Dual-mode Continuously Variable Transmission (D-CVT).

Features

The compact SUV will come equipped with a nine-inch infotainment display that is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple Carplay. For convenience, the car will come with features such as adaptable auto AC, push-start button, auto-retractable mirror, front-seat heating, power outlet, USB and HDMI terminal, 

For safety, the vehicle will come with features such as ABS, vehicle-stability control, adaptive cruise-control, hill-start assist, seatbelt warning, alarm and  immobilizer, rear parking sensor, and rear parking camera.

The Raize boasts 396 litres of storage capacity, which can be further expanded, thanks to its 60:40 folding seats.


Price in Nepal

The Toyota Raize is set to be launched within December 2021. The vehicle might be launched in three variants: X, G, and Z, at the starting price of Rs 66 lakh.
