Yamaha FI technology a notch above the competitionPosted On: March 12, 2020 By : AutoLife Team
Yamaha has been offering two-wheelers powered by Fuel-injected (FI) technology since the original R15 was introduced in 2008. Since then, the Japanese automaker has been perfecting the technology and recently refreshed the FZ series with a fuel injected engine.
According to the Japanese automaker, the fuel-injected technology used in their products is one of the most advanced in the market, using eight sensors (crank position sensor, coolant temperature sensor, intake air pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, O2 sensor, lean angle sensor and speed sensor. An electric control unit monitors all of the data and takes actions accordingly. This allows the rider to focus on the road and enjoy the experience of a Yamaha two-wheeler.
Yamaha’s fuel-injected technology proved vital when riders took their FZ series bikes through the roughest terrains and highest mountain passes of Nepal. According to the company, the riders benefitted from the fuel-injected technology as the bikes started without any issue in the cold and kept running despite the altitude changes. There are also other advantages of using a bike equipped with Yamaha’s FI technology, from increased mileage and cost effective maintenance.
