MG Comet launched at Rs 18 lakh in Nepal

Paramount Motors, the official distributor of MG cars in Nepal, has introduced the Comet EV, a compact two-door electric vehicle, to the Nepalese market. This new Comet EV model, built on the foundation of Wuling’s Air model, is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, providing an ARAI-certified driving range of 230 kilometers. The Comet EV is available in two versions, namely the Pace and the Play, starting at a base price of Rs 17.99 lakh.

Design

The Comet’s design is inspired by Wuling’s Air model and features dimensions of 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width, and 1631 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2010 mm. Notable design elements of the Comet include LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 12-inch alloy wheels, and an extended LED strip running along the body. Additionally, the EV may be available in both single-tone and two-tone color options. Inside, the EV will be equipped with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and dual 10.25-inch floating screens.

The Comet EV boasts a range of impressive features, including the iSmart system with over 55 connected car functions and more than 100 voice commands. Safety features comprise dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a parking camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat belt reminders, and three-point seatbelts for all four seats. Additionally, the vehicle offers leather-upholstered seats and three riding modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Powertrain

The Comet EV comes with a standard 17.3 kWh IP67-rated battery pack. This battery is paired with a single PSMS (Powertrain System Management System) that can deliver a peak power of 41.4 horsepower and a peak torque of 110 Nm. The company also states that the EV can achieve a top speed of 100 kmph. In terms of charging, the EV can be fully charged using a 3.3 kW charger in approximately 7 hours. On a single charge, this compact EV offers a maximum driving range of 230 kilometers.
